Administration
JGSS-2017 was conducted from January through March 2017. The fieldwork was entrusted to the Central Research Services Inc. (Chuo-Chosa-sha).
As for JGSS conducted before, JGSS-2017 used both interview and placement (self-administered) method for each respondent. For practical reasons the administrative order (i.e., whether to conduct the face-to-face interview before or after the questionnaire) was determined by the interviewer/administrator depending on the circumstances of each case. In any case the administrative order was recorded for each respondent.
The Japanese General Social Surveys (JGSS) are designed and carried out by the JGSS Research Center at Osaka University of Commerce (Joint Usage / Research Center for Japanese General Social Surveys accredited by Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology). JGSS-2017 is financially assisted by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, JSPS KAKENHI Grant Number 17H01007 (PI: Noriko Iwai), and Osaka University of Commerce.
