Data on Regional Blocks and Prefectures

Variables on regional blocks are available in the archived data sets for JGSS-2010 and earlier.

Supplemental data on regional blocks and prefecture codes are available to download from JGSSDDS. Please refer to JGSSDDS User Guide for how to obtain data from JGSSDDS.

For those who wish to obtain regional blocks and prefecture codes will need to submit a separate application and an additional form with a guarantor’s/reference’s signature (a guarantor/reference should be the head of the department or the director of the institution, which the applicant belongs to) to support the application and guarantee that the applicant will follow the data usage agreement.

When graduate students apply for supplemental data on regional blocks and prefectural code, the applicant are required to submit an additional form with the supervisor’s signature as well as guarantor’s/reference’s signature.

When the data users publish the results of analyses using the JGSS datasets, please quote the appropriate acknowledgements. The JGSS Center may not be able to provide any further data if acknowledgements are not included. For details about the acknowledgements, please refer to [Acknowledgments]. Users are required to inform JGSS Research Center by sending us a copy of their conference presentation material or any forms of published articles that use the supplemental data.
